I love Irish dance and I spend so many hours on the weekends dancing at competitions and it seemed only fitting that I have it photographed as part of "My Hometown." I like this photo because I like all of the colors and I think it captures the essence of competing.
Sunday and Monday nights are always sports night at my house. My brother, Dad and uncle occupy the TV and their excited or disappointed yells can be heard all over the house. It wouldn't be the same without this and it is only fitting that this be apart of "My Hometown."
This photograph was taken at ground level on my street. I saw this to be a fitting image for "My Hometown" because its were I grew up i have spent so much time outside playing in the street with neighbors and cousns. Be it riding scooters, bikes or playing stickball, it was always a blast. I really like this photo becuase of the unique point of view from the ground level. I like how the viewer's eye can travel along the cracks and when they aren't visible anymore, the viewer follows through to the end of the street down the middle. Additioally, I like how the leaves are very in focus and while the rest of the street is not out of focus, it isn't totally focused.
Sports is a big part of my life and to many in this town. This shot implies and displays motion and excitement of the final shot thatw as needed for the win going in. I like how the rim and the basketball are both orange and both contrast with the background.
Looking at this photo, I feel like i could jump right on the bars and start swinging across. This makes me feel at home. I like how there are the three separate elements of blue, with some yellow peeking in and brown that allows the blue to pop. The viewers eye is led staight through along the money bars due to the point of view and the focus on them.
